Nigandu English to Tamil Dictionary

Introduction:

This is a Desktop dictionary application for English to Tamil word translation. The dictionary includes nearly 2,00,000 words (including the technical terms) and facilitates you to add more words.

Manual:

These can be found on the help menu of the application. One important thing "Press Return double times to look up for a word".



Search:


To search for a word in the dictionary
  • Click the "Search" Button or "Alt+S" to search for the word you typed.(or)
  • Press the "Return" key "double times" to search for the word you typed.(or)
  • "Double Click" a word in the Suggested words list to search.(or)
  • "Double Click" a word on the side docks("History", "Book Marks") to search.



File Menu


Add a new word to the dictionary which is not available in the dictionary. Click save button only both fields are filled otherwise Click "Cancel" button if you want to cancel the entry. Use special type writers for Tamil Unicode such as Goolge Input, eKalappai, etc.,
Increase the font size within the limit.
Decrease the font size within the limit.
Options Change the default behaviour of the applications. You can set to close the dock windows(History, Book Mark) permanently; You can delete all the past history of word search from the beginning. The changes will be applied on the next application start-up or you can revert the changes by clicking the "Set to defaults" option.


Go Menu


Go to the previous word search.
Go to the next word search.
Get the meaning for any of the random word from the dictionary.




Book Mark Menu


Add the current word to Book Mark list.
Manage the Book Marked items here; You can add the current word to Book Mark or delete some of them or entirely.

Windows Download:

These slideshow contains some of the screenshots of Nigandu running on Windows 8. You can install the application freely on any PC (Typically a Windows machine). Application has been tested on Windows 8; hope this could run on WinXP or later.

Linux Download:

These slideshow contains some of the screenshots of Nigandu on Ubuntu 14.04. The installer available here is .deb and will support all of the debian based distros. To install either you can use GDebi Package Installer or 'dpkg -i package-name' command from the terminal.
